Delhi Private School, Sharjah focus is on creating an environment that allows pupils to become engaged, educated and prepares them for the challenges and opportunities. On 24th and 25th of January our little scholars of Grade 2 explored calculations with money and various life skills through a successful themed event conducted in DPS, Sharjah. It was a much-awaited activity- ‘Math Café ‘, where the students of Grade 2 discovered Math through varied ways of amusement and showcased their entrepreneurial skills with great with great enthusiasm.

In this wonderful Harry Potter themed activity, the students performed various roles of waiters, cashiers, servers, and managers in a café. The little scholars of Grade 2 dressed themselves up as the renowned wizards that highlighted the theme of Harry Potter. On the day of Math café, various stalls in the green field were filled with freshly prepared delicious food and snacks, and students were eagerly waiting to take orders from the customers at their café. Various family members enacted themselves as customers and students took immense interest in creating bill and counting money. It provided an interesting platform for students to perform the math skills they have learned.

Serving food, billing, and making pleasant mealtime conversation — happened quite naturally. Students had a fantastic time conversing with the customers who visited their café and enhanced their various practical life skills. Students also performed various activities dance and music activities during the event.

Parental involvement and participation were truly remarkable for the unprecedented success of this activity. The feedback forms had positive remarks. Parents appreciated the team spirit and praised the concept. This unforgettable extracurricular activity provided an opportunity for students to deepen their learning, with a touch of magic, fun and excitement.
